Kent Life

Image
This week, Year 4 went on a trip to Kent Life to learn more about what life was like in the Anglo Saxon times. They had the opportunity to try and make their own yarn using wool, saw the weapons that would have been made in that time, what they did for entertainment and discussed the importance of animals in that time. The children certainly impressed the activity instructors with their knowledge and thoroughly enjoyed their time learning about different aspects of Anglo Saxon life.

This week, Year 4 have been learning about the types of invertebrates that might be living around the school. They went to investigate what creatures they could find out on the playground. Once they found a creature, the children used their classification questions to work out which invertebrate it was. There was the usual creatures like ants, snails and spiders but there were also some unusual ones. We found an insect, that after some research in class, we believed to be a shield bug.

This week, the children have been using their times tables to find related division facts and solve problems. They demonstrated how they could work out times tables they didn't know yet using arrays. To consolidate their learning, the children played a game of Multiplication Mathopoly. They had to solve their own problems on the board and check their friends working out before giving out the points.
